| The Friends of the Ames Dog Park is a grass-roots organization dedicated to developing a local site for off-leash recreation for dogs and their owners. The group formed in late 2004 and has raised $50,000 to help the city of Ames build an estimated $150,000 dog park that will open as early as spring 2009.
